Here we go...

Just 24 hours ago, I decided to give this whole 'blogging' thing a shot...

So here we go!

It is my intention is to build a practical bridge between the personal & professional sides of my life in hopes of sharing my thoughts and relative experiences with my friends & colleagues in a useful way. So I felt it was an appropriate time to share a little about me.

I have two passions in life: Travel & Yoga

How I managed to make a living at both is still a mystery to me, but I feel truly blessed...
I am taking this opportunity to share a little bit about what I do, the bigger picture, the possibilities, and passions that fuel my ideas.

(PART 1) TRAVEL MANAGER
As a business travel consultant - my primay function is to work with companies that have traveling employees and identify ways to save time, and money.  I uncover lost savings opportunities and help to fine-tune travel policies and structure a proactive travel management program.  I analyze data, keep up with industry trends, and keep a focused eye on my customers goals and objectives.

Lately I have been working with my clients to really buckle down and get a grip on all areas of travel that are not being proactively managed.   I REALLY enjoy it, so it doesn't feel like work.

One thing I have noticed lately, is that in 2008 the cost of travel is expected to rise dramatically (I will post supporting docs on my page under 'Business Travel' as soon as I learn how!!) It is my prediction that businesses that are not proactive with their travel management are going to be in for a big surprise. My phone has started to ring a lot more in recent months, and I expect that will increase even more in Q108.

Every business goes though a lifecycle, and managed travel is definitely on the rise... travelers are now re-discovering the value of human interaction, and customer service. The internet was once a great way to save money, but the times have changed... the 'deals' have slowly faded and consumers are finally starting to catch on.  So keep an eye out... TRAVEL MANAGEMENT IS ON THE RISE!!!!

In fact, managed travel and expense management programs are becoming a highly saught after tool for smart companies...

In 2008 you may not remember me, but you will remember this random blog!  Wink

(PART 2) YOGA INSTRUCTOR
Yoga has gotten me through some crrrrrrrazy times in my life... having a practice that spans nearly a decade, I have used Yoga as a life tool:

  • From 2002-2006 It helped to get me through college (while working full-time)
  • In 2004 it helped me recover from an automobile accident (I was smashed by a Semi Truck while driving my Miata)
  • At the end of 2005 it helped me to deal with the most tragic time of all... the loss of my mother to Cancer (who sparked my initial interest in health & wellness).
After my accident in 2004, it was during my own physical rehabilitation that I started to realize how deep the passion for my practice was. I found myself wanting to share my growing knowledge and appreciation with everyone around me.  And soon, Yoga became the cure for everything in my life!!!

The I noticed something:

The more I practiced, the more I learned.
The more I learned, the more I wanted to share.
The more I wanted to share, the more I thought about teaching.

and then it happened...

I completed my formal training & certification program in 2006 and I began teaching.

I currently teach at a resort in Newport Coast.  I am blessed to share my mormning practice with amazing people from all over the world.  While I do not get to see each of my students progress beyond the length of a vacation, I feel that a spark of interest in a relaxed setting may encourage them to add a little yoga to their life when they get home...

If each student walks away learning ONE little thing about themselves during our time together, then I have succeeded as a teacher..

(PART 3) YOGA RETREAT & CORPORATE WELLNESS COORDINATOR

I have this idea that life is a series of bridges that join ideas and people at different times for various reasons. I will expand on this thought more later - but I see big things on the horizon and plan to bring it all together...

In 2008 I plan to expand on teaching & wellness programs to incorporate travel & business...

until next time,

Namaste~
